Playing a local audio file, could potentially not have metadata, thus just show: Not only that, but plexamp doesn't reach out to services to determine what your playing, it grabs the metadata from the PMS, again the heavy lifting. It seems coding for something like that would not be worth it. ![]() it would literally be a dumb player, which plexamp is far from. Without doing that analysis there'd be no loudness leveling, soundprint/waveform, sweet fades, radio, limiter, conversion of any type, aural fixations, ratings, album codec badges. Not sure what you mean about upgrading to the latest Plex music directory. i noticed for some artists similar artists went from two to like 15, which helps radios. The analysis of media, specifically music, is done by the PMS. make sure you've upgraded to the new music library, and have rescanned all your music. Playing local files, plexamp would not be utilized to it's full potential. I can see a few potential issues allowing local content when it comes to plexamp. Would anyone else reap the same benefits I would here? Plex seems to listen with enough clamoring. I have a huge preference to this device over a cell phone, so with the current setup, I'd stick with the Hiby app unfortunately. Plexamp is the FIRST app I've used that I personally think is better, but it's only for streaming from my server with limitations on downloads.Ĭonsidering my main music playing device is not something that is regularly attached to WiFi and has no LTE connectivity, Plexamp being available as a player that can scan locally stored music would be so damn useful to me. The model I have is Android based, so I can download any app, but Hiby has their own music app that is pretty decent. The ability to stream is pretty cool, BUT I solved the post-iPod era problem of having all my music at my finger tips by purchasing a Digital Audio Player (the R6 Pro by Hiby).
